Where does the Club meet to dance?

We meet at Dolphin Head Golf Club in Hilton Head Plantation, 56 High Bluff Rd., Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

When are Dance Lessons?

Dance Lessons are free to members of the Club and are held on Tuesday night, beginning at 6:00PM. We offer lessons in 4 week sessions. Check “Dance Lessons” for more information.

Do I need a partner to take Dance Lessons?

The Shag Dance is a partners Dance, however, a partner is not required to take Dance Lessons. Our instructors will ask a Club member to dance with you.

I am only here for a short time, do I need to join the Club to take Lessons?

Yes, you must be a member to take Dance Lessons.

Does the Club offer Line Dance Lessons?

Yes, Leigh Lawrence teaches Line Dance Lessons on selected Friday nights at 5:00PM. Please see the Calendar of Events for more information.

When are Social Dances?

Social Dances are held every Friday night until, beginning at 6:00PM. 

Are guests invited to Social Dances?

Hilton Head Island Carolina Shag Club welcomes visitors to each Social Dance. Please come and enjoy the evening with us!

Is there a cover charge?

There is a $5 cash per person (members and visitors) floor charge for both Dance Lessons and Social Dances.

Is there bar service?

Yes, there is a Cash Bar for both Dance Lessons and Social Dances. No outside alcohol of any kind can be brought into the Club.

Is there food service?

Yes, there are two menu items available for sale for $10 at each Social Dance. Check the Newsletter each week for selections and prices. There is no food service for Dance Lessons.

How do I become a member of the Club?

You can register online, or you can print out the Membership Application and mail to our address: PO Box 6681, Hilton Head Island, SC 29938. You may also register for Membership at any Dance Lesson or Social Dance.

What is the cost of membership?

The membership year is from June 1 to May 31. Membership dues are $30 per person.

What is the attire for Lessons and Social Dancing?

Wear whatever makes you feel like dancing, in good taste, of course.
