The Hilton Head Carolina Shag Club prides itself on being friendly and inclusive. Our club has members who hail from diverse corners of the United States and several other countries, as well. We wholeheartedly embrace individuals of varying dance abilities, and we extend our invitation for free dance lessons to any club member who is eager to learn and join in the fun.
The club was formed in 1994 by a small group of island residents who were interested in learning how to shag. After weekly lessons from a Shag Hall of Famer and with encouragement from the President of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs (ACSC), the group became registered as a non-profit corporation and recognized as an ACSC club in 1995.
Over the years, the club has grown in numbers and functions. This could not have happened without the help of many. Volunteerism remains at the core of the club, and members donate their time and talents to make the Hilton Head Shag Club what it is today.
If the key to a successful club is the engagement and enjoyment of its members, the Hilton Head Carolina Shag Club is indeed a success!
