Where does the Club meet to dance?

We meet at Heinrichs Hall, Christ Lutheran Church, 829 William Hilton Pkwy., Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.

When are Dance Lessons?

Dance Lessons are free to members of the Club and are held on Friday nights prior to the social dance beginning at 5:30PM. We offer dance lessons in the Fall, beginning in September. Check “Dance Lessons” for more information.

Do I need a partner to take Dance Lessons?

The Shag Dance is a partners dance, however, a partner is not required to take dance lessons. Our instructors will ask a Club member to dance with you.

I am only here for a short time, do I need to join the Club to take Lessons?

Yes, you must be a member to take dance lessons.

Does the Club offer Line Dance Lessons?

Yes, Leigh Lawrence teaches line dance lessons on selected Friday nights prior to the social dance.. Please see the HHICSC Weekly Newsletter for more information.

When are Social Dances?

Social dances are held every Friday night, 6:00PM to 9:00PM. 

Are guests invited to Social Dances?

Hilton Head Island Carolina Shag Club welcomes visitors to each Social Dance. Please come and enjoy the evening with us!

Is there a cover charge?

There is a $8 cash per person (members and visitors) floor charge for both Dance Lessons and Social Dances.

Is there food and bar service?

We invite all attendees to bring their own food and beverage of choice.

How do I become a member of the Club?

You can register online, or you can print out the Membership Application and mail to our address: PO Box 6681, Hilton Head Island, SC 29938. You may also register for Membership at any Dance Lesson or Social Dance.

What is the cost of membership?

The membership year is from June 1 to May 31. Membership dues are $40 per person.

What is the attire for Lessons and Social Dancing?

Wear whatever makes you feel like dancing, in good taste, of course.
